Saya was raised within a heavy musical household. Her father, Charlie Gray, is an accomplished trumpet player, composer and producer who has played for the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Tony Bennett. Her Japanese born Mother is the founder and director of Discovery Through the Arts, one of Toronto's largest independent music schools.
Saya has been playing bass for 8 years and has been gigging professionally for 6. As a child she was given extensive ear training and has learned under some of Toronto's finest musicians ever since. She is now playing sessions and gigs all over North America in genres ranging from Jazz, Hip-Hop, RnB and Gospel.
"My BN5 is the most versatile bass I've ever played. It suits my every need from the studio to the stage. It also matches every outfit. I love it!" - Saya Gray
