Born in Paris in 1993, Swaeli was bitten by the music bug early on in his childhood thanks to his father (and F Bass artist) Etienne Mbappe.
He began his musical journey by studying saxophone and drums from the ages of 7-12 at the Chevilly Larue music school. When it came time to join his middle school's/high school's orchestra, his interest in bass finally took over.
At the age of 18, Swaeli entered the "Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood" where he studied jazz. The following year was accepted to the Conservatoire de Paris after passing his exam. During this period, Swaeli began his professional career by playing with the great Cameroonian singer, Blick Bassy and many other African artists including Daby Toure, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Mamani Keita, Omar Pene and others.
Towards the end of 2013 he went on an eighteen month tour with TAL, one of the most famous pop singers in France. Soon after he wrapped up another tour with Shy'm, yet another well known French singer.
At just 22 years old, Swaeli is considered to be one of the youngest of Paris' next generation of musicians and he is enthusiastic about building the "music of tomorrow" with them. He will continue creating many projects that will be released in the near future.
"I love my BN5 with it's round lows and great precision and clarity on tap. I can alternate between a smooth or aggressive tone which allows me to play every style. It also has that unique "F Bass sound" and is incredibly comfortable to play!" - Swaeli Mbappe
